A Closer Look Inside

This Eastman View Camera was used to take all mug shot photo's in Yonkers in the early 1920's. The coat with double rows of buttons is the style worn by Lt's ca. 1910.

This would have been the standard police issue hat or "helmet" worn by all police officers  ca. 1880's through 1917. Dark blue for winter months, light gray for the summer.  In 1917 Yonkers changed to a flat style hat. This style hat wreath was worn up until 1900.
